30.11-01.12 • Mahamudra w Karma Kagyu. Połączenie tradycji sutr i tantr
Zapraszamy na seminarium o mahamudrze, które poprowadzi prof. Klaus-Dieter Mathes z Uniwersytetu Wiedeńskiego.
Prof. Klaus Dieter-Mathes jest kierownikiem Wydziału Studiów Południowoazjatyckich, Tybetańskich i Buddyjskich. Naukowo zajmuje się madhjamaką, jogaczarą i naukami o Naturze Buddy. Jego projekty badawcze dotyczyły m.in. indyjskich źródeł mahamudry i jej przekazu do Tybetu. Khempo Tsultrim Gjamtso Rinpocze (KTGR) i Thrangu Rinpocze przekazali mu kluczowe nauki dotyczące mahamudry i tybetańskiej interpretacji dzieł Maitripy. KTGR zachęcał Mathesa do popularyzowania tych nauk.
Na przełomie listopada i grudnia prof. Mathes przedstawi w KDC komentarz do “Ostatecznego kontinuum mahajany” Maitripy. Dzieło to przedstawia nauki o Naturze Buddy i jest pomostem pomiędzy tradycją sutr i tantr. Autorem tybetańskiego komentarza do “Ostatecznego kontinuum mahajany” był słynny uczony i nauczyciel VI Karmapy Go Lotsawa Zhonnu-pel (1392-1481).
“Tym, co czyni ten komentarz tak interesującym, jest jego interpretacja porzucenia “myślowo utworzonych cech charakterystycznych” (nimitty) z perspektywy mahamudry. Praktyka ta odgrywa kluczową rolę w kultywowaniu niekonceptualnej mądrości” – opisuje prof. Mathes.
“Go Lotsawa Zhonnu-pel objaśnia, że nimitty porzuca się poprzez bezpośrednie urzeczywistnienie ich świetlistej natury. Zwykłe podejście mahajany do nimitt wiąże się z medytacją analityczną i niekonceptualnym spoczęciem na jej koniec. Tymczasem rdzenne pouczenia mahamudry umożliwiają medytowanie nad bezpośrednim postrzeganiem nimitt od samego początku” – dodaje.
Seminarium jest otwarte dla wszystkich. Wykłady będą prowadzone w języku angielskim z tłumaczeniem na język polski. Istnieje możliwość uczestnictwa w kursie online.

KAGYU MAHAMUDRA: INTEGRATING ESSENCE-MAHAMUDRA IN THE SUTRA- AND MANTRA-PATH
The Mahamudra seminar at the Warsaw’s Buddhist Centre ”KDC” will be presented by professor Klaus-Dieter Mathes.
Prof. Dr. Klaus-Dieter Mathes is the Head of the Department of South Asian, Tibetan and Buddhist Studies at the University of Vienna. His current academic activity is focused on the Tibetan Madhyamaka, Yogachara and the perception of Buddha’s Nature. His previous experience also includes working on the indian roots of Mahamudra and its transmission to Tibet. As a student of Khenpo Tsultrim Gjamtso Rinpocze (KTGR) and Thrangu Rinpoche he received from them key teachings for his research projects which included Indian Mahamudra and the Tibetan interpretation of Maitripa’s works. Following that, the KTGR encouraged him to promote received teachings with world-wide audience.
At the end of November professor Mathes will be presenting an commentary on the Maitripa’s “Exposition of the Jewelled lineage” (this work presents the teachings on the Buddha’s Nature and closes the gap between the tradition of sutras and tantras) written by the famous scholar and teacher of the VI Karmapa Go Lotsawa Zhonnu-pel (1392-1481).
According to professor Mathes “what makes this commentary so interesting is its interpretation of the abandonment of ‘mentally created characteristic signs’ (nimitta) from the Mahamudra perspective. This practice plays a key role in cultivating non-conceptual wisdom”.
Furthermore, he adds “Go Lotsawa Zhonnu-pel explains that nimittas are abandoned by directly realizing their luminous nature. Mahayana’s usual approach to nimittas involves analytical meditation and non-conceptual rest at the end. Meanwhile, the core teachings of the Mahamudra enable meditation on the direct perception of nimittas from the very beginning”.
This seminar is open to anyone. All lectures will be presented in English with Polish interpreter present. There is also possibility to join lectures online.
